The Basics $200
This standalone course serves as an introduction to both the full CCOA program and the field of optometry for newcomers. It covers fundamental optometric concepts that are explored in greater depth in subsequent CCOA modules. Upon completion, participants will gain a basic understanding of:
- Optometry in Canada
- Basic ocular anatomy
- Refractive errors & ophthalmic lenses
- Frame fitting basics
- Common eye conditions
Important Notes:
- This module can NOT be applied towards CCOA certification.
- A minimum mark of 65% is required to pass.
- Module is accessible for 6 weeks.
Individual Modules: $250 per module
For those not seeking certification, but interested in specific aspects of the CCOA program.
Modules include : Introduction to Optometry, Pre-testing, Supplementary Testing, Refraction and Ocular Health, Opthalmic Lenses, Opthalmic Frames, Opthalmic Finishing Lab, Contact Lens and Business and Retail Components.
Each module includes:
- Assignment and Timed Quiz
- Practical skills checklist (Modules 1, 4, and 9 do NOT have checklists).
- Study guide and interactive online course
Important notes:
- Individual modules can NOT be applied towards CCOA certification.
- Modules are accessible for 6 months.
- Individual module registrants may attend the Workshops (fee).
- A minimum grade of 65% is required on all components to pass.
