The CAO provides a Continuing Education Credit Approval Program for industry partners and organizations that host continuing education events (virtual or in-person) for optometric assistants across Canada. CE activities recognized by the CAO automatically count towards CCOA renewal requirements.

The approval process:

To attain credit approval, providers must submit the following to the CAO:

  • Activity title (as it should appear on the attendance/participation document)
  • Activity dates (if applicable)
  • Activity learning objectives and/or course outline/presentation slides
  • Duration of the activity (in hours)
  • Speaker name and credentials
  • Administration fee

Upon approval, sponsors will receive a unique reference code and expiration date. These must be included on the attendance/completion document given to participants upon finishing the activity. Courses are approved for three-year periods, after which they must undergo re-approval.

Fees:

  • Activities under 5 hours: $50
  • Activities 6-10 hours: $100
  • Activities 10 hours +: $150

The more activities you submit, the greater the savings!

The CAO provides discounted rates for CE sponsors submitting 10 or more activities per year. Unused credits at year-end will be forfeited and are non-transferable.
