Sadie Lampard - Alberta’s First Female Optometrist

While women entering the practice of optometry are now in the majority, this is a relatively new development. Sadie Marion Lampard was Alberta’s first female optometrist, beginning her practice in 1942 and continuing until 1993. Sadie’s career spanned the WWII, saw many changes in practice and included a partnership and marriage to another optometrist, Jim Lampard.
