Vision Health Month

May is Vision Health Month

Vision Health Month is a great time to raise awareness about eye health and ways to prevent vision loss. A regular eye exam by a doctor of optometry is the best way to stay on top of eye health. Did you know that 1 in 7 Canadians will develop a serious eye disease in their lifetime? Yet 75% of vision loss can be prevented or treated with proper care. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect potentially life threatening conditions, like brain tumours, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Get EyeWise

May is Vision Health Month, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists is running an awareness campaign with a call for Canadians to “Get EyeWise” to help encourage optimal eye health and vision care. The digital campaign will run on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok throughout May. Members are encouraged to get involved and make use of the digital resources as well. This is a great opportunity to remind patients and your community about the importance of eye health and the key role of the OD in their health care team.

All members are welcome to use the nationally branded EyeWise materials, available in English and French through the CAO Member Portal.

Here are some of the video assets available to help encourage all to "Get Eyewise"!
