Thaksha Sritharan grew up in the Greater Toronto Area and pursued her optometry education internationally, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from St. George’s University of London in 2021. After completing her pre-registration training at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, she qualified as an optometrist in the United Kingdom in 2022. Following licensure, Thaksha gained valuable experience as a locum optometrist in primary care settings across England and worked in the film industry as a special effects prosthetic contact lens optometrist. She then returned to Canada and completed the Advanced Standing Optometry Preparatory Program at the University of Waterloo where she is now a Doctor of Optometry candidate. Thaksha is passionate about advancing the profession through advocacy, education, and student empowerment. She displays her passion for eye care through her social media platform under the handle "Thaksha Sees". She is deeply committed to enhancing student engagement, fostering mentorship opportunities across Canada, and ensuring that optometry students feel supported and represented on a national level.
