Job Description
Downtown Optometry Clinic is a wholly independant group optometric practice in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
We have a beautiful independant Optical staffed by 2 Licensed Opticians and have modern, up to date equipment. Parking on-site and no weekend hours.
OCT, retinal photos, NCT, Auto-refractor and Auto K's are all administered by our well trained staff prior to patients seeing their OD. We have a Humphrey Field Analyzer on site and trained technicians to administer testing as required. Icare tonometers are available for use as well as Goldmann. We use electronic medical records in the form of a well established Optometry specific EMR.
Currently Downtown Optometry has 4 Fulltime ODs and 1 Part time OD and is looking to hire another fulltime. Our schedules are full and we are excited to welcome another OD who can provide top notch patient centered care.
Downtown Optometry Clinic provides full scope, comprehensive optometric services, Urgent eye care and also provides some specialty care in the form of VT and Scleral Contact Lenses and myopia management.
New Brunswick Optometrists do not bill provincial medicare - we set our own fees and are properly paid for our time and expertise. NB Optometrists scope of practice has expanded to include independant glaucoma management, prescribing of oral meds, in addiiton to topicals, for the management of eye conditions. Optometrists are paid a percentage of their exam fees and generated billings.
New Brunswick is Canada's only officially bilingual province. Although most of our day to day business is conducted in English- it is an asset if applicants can speak French.
