Together, let’s #GetEyeWise!

Each spring, the Canadian Association of Optometrists launches a digital campaign to encourage Canadians to take a closer look at their eye health. While May marks Vision Health Month, this year’s campaign extends beyond a single month, running through May and June to keep the conversation going.

Through relatable “everyday mistakes,” this campaign reminds you that your vision might not be as clear as you think, and highlights why regular eye exams matter. Many eye conditions can develop without noticeable symptoms, making comprehensive eye exams an essential part of maintaining overall health.

The CAO 2026 Spring awareness campaign was launched in partnership with :

Comprehensive eye exams can also uncover underlying and life-threatening health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, some cancers, brain tumours, and neurological conditions. From infants to seniors, optometrists provide care to help maintain good vision, eye health and quality of life. If you don’t already have an optometrist, you don’t need a referral to book a comprehensive eye exam.

During a comprehensive exam, the optometrist assesses the case history, quality of vision, external health of the eyes, internal health of your eyes, ability of the eyes to adjust focus, eye movement, eye coordination, and peripheral vision. In addition, colour vision and depth perception may also be evaluated. If a problem is detected, treatment and management options will be provided accordingly, such as with glasses, contact lenses, exercise, medication or surgery.
