This is a packed day of lectures and hands-on activities directed at learning gonioscopy techniques, the implementation of gonioscopy in current practice in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, and the utilization of gonioscopy in advanced scope procedures. Plan on gaining hands-on skills in the practical portion of the workshop. Lunch will be provided. The lecture and workshop content presented will be identical in both cities.
Speaker: Dr. Komal Patel
DR. Komal Patel, O.D. earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, where she served as the Class of 2020 President. Dr. Patel then completed a Primary Care residency at the Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO) specializing in ocular disease and advanced procedures. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at NSUOCO. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, and Canadian Association of Optometrists. Dr. Patel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Sophia Leung is a residency-trained and fellowship-trained optometrist with a clinical emphasis in cornea, advanced glaucoma, and anterior segment disease. Dr. Leung completed her Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery Residency and Advanced Glaucoma and Cornea Fellowship with Oklahoma Medical Eye Group in 2019-2021. She currently practices at a referral and surgical center in Calgary alongside ophthalmology, where she performs surgical consults as well as secondary and tertiary medical management in advanced ocular disease.
Dr. Leung has been a council member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists since 2015. Dr. Leung is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry in the Anterior Segment Section, the first Albertan and Canadian to do so. She is also now the first Canadian member of the Intrepid Eye Society.
