We are the only Pediatric Ophthalmology practice in Victoria, offering a collaborative and supportive environment for eye care professionals. Our large and dynamic practice consists of two Ophthalmologists, one Optometrist, and one Orthoptist. We are committed to the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join our team. While pediatric experience is not required, a strong interest in pediatric eye care is essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain specialized experience in pediatric ophthalmology, with training and mentorship that will closely resemble a pediatric fellowship.
The position is flexible and can be tailored to fit the candidate’s availability. Ideally, the candidate would start with 1-2 days per week in the office, but for the right individual, a full-time position may be arranged. The role can also include adult optometry, as our office manages a high volume of cataract and glaucoma patients.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive eye exams for pediatric and adult patients.
Diagnose and manage common pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus and amblyopia.
Collaborate closely with Ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
Educate patients and families on eye health and vision care.
Receive hands-on training in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus management, and related conditions, making this an excellent opportunity for professional growth.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
No prior pediatric experience necessary; a strong interest in learning pediatric optometry is highly valued.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Interest in continuous learning and professional development.
