We are looking to add a new full-time Optometric Assistant to our team.
Future training through the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) program, and alongside our current CCOA trained staff and doctors will see you become a fully certified Optometric Assistant.
Responsibilities will vary depending on the stages of training as the CCOA. To give you an idea, the following are some, but not all responsibilities, that you will be learning.
Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant
Office duties and administrative support such as answering phones and booking appointments.
Pre-testing and case history taking
Retinal imaging
Performing Visual Fields
Contact lens insertion and removal training
Provide excellent customer service and patient care in person, on the phone and electronically through email.
Helping patients select frames and lenses, and managing patient questions including product warranties.
Fitting frames, taking measurements, and dispensing glasses.
Adjusting and repairing glasses
Patient education with regards to frame, ophthalmic lens and contact lens products that would best suit their needs.
Lens problem solving
Inventory management and in-store frame selection with frame company representatives.
The Successful Applicant must have
A positive and welcoming personality
Strong verbal, computer and administrative skills
High level of attention to detail and organization
Work efficiently with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality
Be flexible in their duties and be willing to learn new tasks
Experience in the optical industry and retail sales would be an asset
Business acumen and dexterity are other advantageous skills.
This position is full-time Monday to Friday 7:30am-5:00pm.
