CCOA Basics

The new Basics Introductory Module is a stand-alone tool geared towards staff who have no yet taken the full CCOA program. The Basics Introductory Module serves as an introduction to the full CCOA program and also as an introduction to Optometry for those who are new to the field. This module will introduce basic optometric concepts that are further elaborated on in the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) program subsequent modules. Upon completion of this module, the optometric assistant will have a basic understanding of:

  1. Optometry in Canada
  2. Basic Ocular Anatomy
  3. Refractive Errors & Ophthalmic Lenses
  4. Frame Fitting Basics
  5. Common Eye Conditions
  • One single module
  • 42 day deadline (6 weeks)
  • A 30 question assignment
  • A stand-alone tool (credits will  not be put towards CCOA full course)
