You must submit proof of completion of a CPR course, taken during the three-year renewal period; this must occur with every renewal. (In other words, even if you have a valid, i.e., non-expired, CPR certificate, but the course was applied to a previous renewal period, it cannot not be counted towards a second renewal period). The course must include a practical, hands-on component. Online CPR courses are not sufficient. Any level of CPR is acceptable. Contact the Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in your area to find a course. The length of the course (in hours) must be included in the documentation and will be counted towards your total of 18 hours for the renewal period.
It is important to note that as of 2018 renewals, a maximum of 4 hours will apply for CPR and first aid training.
When submitting your CPR online, you must upload: (1) a copy of your CPR wallet card or certificate.
