    Vision Change Due to Pregnancy

During my last pregnancy I noticed I was taking off my glasses to do things including driving. My eyes felt like they were being pulled from my head. Like I was wearing someone else's prescription! When my daughter was 6 months old I went to my eye doc for an exam. I could see every letter on every line with both eyes far away and close up! He said I still had my astigmatism, but that my nearsightedness had improved to perfect vision. My daughter is now three years old and my eyes are still at that level! My Doc had never seen this before, and has no idea what happened. He said in his experience any changes during pregnancy are worse, but are temporary. Have you heard of this happening? Do you know what causes it? I would love to know, because I really feel like a freak! Lol

    Dr. Sally Aldayeh's response:

    Hi Carrie,

It sounds like good news, I am assuming your eye doctor would have done all the tests to make sure there is not other cause for this change in prescription, in that case, it is very common to find a change in prescription during pregnancy, some change back but not all, you are one of the few lucky ones, maintain your regular eye exams, and enjoy your better vision…Thank you Carrie
