My sister was involved in a car accident on Sept 11, 2011 which she sustained serious nasal and cheek bones fracture on her left face, along with the fracture of her left orbit floor. A plastic surgery took place on Sept 23, 2011. After the surgery, she is experiencing double vision when she looks down and to the left angel. A reading of horizontal deviation of 18 was done by an ophthalmologist on Nov 24, 2011, whilst the reading of vertical deviation is within normal range. My question is: will vision therapy be beneficial to my sister in this instance? If so, any recommendation on where to find a vision therapist or who you would recommended?

    Dr Joan Hansen's response:

    Patricia,
Since you are in the Toronto area, you should contact the Vision Institute www.visioninstitute.optometry.net/PracticeTemplates/index.aspx?user_data_id=499&menu_id=551 on York Mills Road or the School of Optometry in Waterloo www.optometry.uwaterloo.ca for assistance in this matter.
