I'm traveling to the United States in September and would like to purchase glasses there. I have my recent prescription but I don't know if they will fill it there for me.

    Dr. Virginia Donati's response:

    Hello Marilyn,
Spectacle precriptions are universal and thus there should be absolutely no problem being able to fill it in the U.S.
Just a note of caution: If you have any issues with the glasses once you’ve purchased them, it will be very difficult to have them corrected or use your warranty when you’re so far away.  There will be very little that the issuing optometrist will be able to do for you.
As long as you’re ok with taking that chance, than there should be no problem getting your glasses while you’re away.
    Enjoy your trip!
    Dr. Donati
