Occupational Vision Plan

Safety programs that are provided through your local optometric offices not only offer the latest products, they also provide the expertise and commitment to your eye health from the largest group of eye care professionals.

Optometry is the only vision care profession with the ability to perform the visual diagnosis, prescribe lenses and design, verify, and fit spectacles to meet the functional requirements of the workplace.

Through comprehensive eye care services, such as visual field assessments and vision training, your optometrist can detect, manage and treat conditions such as job-related eye strain, age-related vision change, and disease.

Ontario Occupational Vision Plan

  • The Occupational Vision Plan (OVP) is a comprehensive safety eyeware program that has served the vision care needs of Ontario's workers for over two decades. We offer our clients the expertise of more than 350 doctors of optometry, providing service in over 150 communities.
  • The OVP is unique because it is provided exclusively by Optometrists who are primary health care professionals. As eye care specialists Ontario's optometrists are dedicated to providing total vision care. This includes the visual diagnosis, prescribing of lenses, lens design, verification, and dispensing of safety glasses.
  • The plan assures that your employees receive protective eyewear that meets or exceeds existing workplace safety standards. There is never any compromise in the materials used.
  • This means polycarbonate lenses and warranty protected, brand name safety frames are included. Your OVP Agreement Summary, which is provided to the participating optometrists, is your assurance that all eyewear meets criteria established by your company.
  • The program is cost effective, competitively priced and simple to administer. One itemized monthly statement is provided for all authorized services, even when provided by different Optometrists. OVP client companies have the advantage of a single source to solve any problem and to answer inquiries.
  • Because the OVP is administered by the Canadian Association of Optometrists, it is the only program that provides a total package of optometric services, optical materials and administration by a single group. We are dedicated to providing the best in protective eyewear while controlling your costs.
