National Public Education Committee

The National Public Education Committee (NPEC) is a committee inside CAO that coordinates the purchase of national advertising. CAO members support NPEC through a special levy which is devoted exclusively to paid media. The costs for production, research, public relations overhead and other promotional efforts are offset by the Eye Health Council of Canada (EHCC).

Each year, CAO budgets the NPEC levy and a portion of the EHCC investment towards the national public awareness campaign. Highlighting the importance of regular eye exams and eye health, the campaign focus is on the benefits of preventive eye care because, “Even with 20/20 vision, 1 in 7 Canadians will develop a serious eye disorder”.

NPEC includes one representative from each province.
