Eye Health Council of Canada Partnership
The mission of the Eye Health Council of Canada (EHCC) is to educate and promote the importance of regular optometric care to the people of Canada in order to improve their vision and eye health.
The EHCC was established in January 1996 with the objective of establishing the importance of preventive eye care – making regular eye exams as automatic to Canadians as any other routine health care check-ups. EHCC is dedicated to educating the public about the importance of quality eye health care.
Decisions about EHCC are made by the National Public Education Committee, a group of optometrists selected by their provincial associations to represent the needs of their members and ensure that the mission of the EHCC is fulfilled.
All members of the CAO (90% of Canadian optometrists) are members of EHCC – and are kept informed about its activities and progress, including reports of the contributions and support of industry partners.
EHCC includes a partnership between Canadian Optometry and Ophthalmic Industry suppliers. Our industry partners participate in an annual CAO/EHCC Roundtable, a forum for open discussion about the program.

CAO Biennial Congress
In July 2013, CAO will hold its 33rd Biennial Congress in Edmonton, AB. Along with continuing education, the president’s banquet, class reunions and other activities; the Congress is a gathering place for the optometric community.
The OPTOFAIR, held in conjunction with the CAO Congress, allows the optometric community the opportunity to explore new technologies, patient treatments, the latest product lines and practice management tools. CAO would not be able to bring such high-quality programs to the profession without the support of the exhibitors and corporate sponsors.
